Enhance your ECG Competencies with Advanced Training

Electrocardiograms (ECGs), also called EKGs, record the electrical signals in your heart, providing information about your heart rate and rhythm. This common test is used to monitor heart health and detect any problems.

ECGs are often done in a doctor's office, a clinic or a hospital room; and have become standard equipment in operating rooms and ambulances. Though physicians typically evaluate the results of an ECG, the ECG procedure is often performed by medical assistants, nurses and nursing assistants, physician assistants, paramedics, or other healthcare workers with specialized training.

Newly Updated Certificate ProgramAdobeStock_123374907

AMT has a robust certificate of study on ECG that will help create the foundational knowledge you need to begin or will help solidify and enhance your current knowledge. The REACH ECG Certificate Program has 7 training modules that cover:

  • Heart physiology
  • ECG equipment and functionality
  • Conducting the ECG procedure
  • Evaluating the ECG
  • Heart abnormalities
  • Medications and electrolytes
  • Other cardiac tests

Within the ECG REACH Certificate, you will learn how the electrical conduction system of the heart works; what the significance of waves, rhythms, and artifacts is in a 12-lead ECG reading; how medications and electrolyte disturbances can cause changes to an ECG; what abnormalities look like in an ECG reading; and about other tests which are used to monitor heart health.

The certificate course includes built-in knowledge checks and each module is followed by a quiz, which helps to reinforce your learning. In order to complete the ECG REACH Certificate, you must achieve a minimum score of 80% on the final assessment, a 100 multiple-choice question exam. If you do not pass the final assessment the first time, you can purchase one retake exam, for a fee.
