District Councillor Message
Greeting from Galax, VA,
It has been one month since delegates from each state and the Caribbean attended one of the
best conventions we have ever had. Excellent speakers and CE sessions and great
conversations at Town Hall and the Business meeting. Start planning now to attend next year’s
meeting! Information regarding the meeting will be posted on the AMT website as it becomes
available. What we know is that it will be held July 21-25, 2025, at Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh
Downtown, 600 Commonwealth Pl, Pittsburgh, PA. Do not make reservations until the
information is released on the website with a link.
For the Southern District, all requests for reimbursements have been processed as of today and
you should soon receive your checks from Chase Bank (it’s not a credit card ad). Many
delegates have posted their reports, and it appears that everyone enjoyed the meeting. The key
to a successful trip is to follow the travel policy whenever you attend a meeting. This is very
important if you want full reimbursement, especially regarding detailed receipts and travel.
Congratulations to the new BOD for 2024-2025. History was made in that Mr. Harry Narine is
the new President of the Board and I believe this is a first time to have someone from the
Caribbean in this position.
Congratulations to all the award winners from the Southern District but especially to Vanessa
Austin of South Carolina as she is the 2024 M.O.M. winner. Such a high honor and she is well
deserving of the award as are all the award winners.
I hope to see all of you at the MET (Magnolia Educational Treasurers) Sept 19-22. There are 7
speakers on Friday and dual classes on Saturday for a possibility of another 7 CEs if you are
able to attend all day Saturday. There are 2 auctions. One is live and the other is silent. It is
always a great event to attend to get your required CEUs. Address: Sheraton Orlando North 600

Follow the AMT website for more information regarding the 2024-2025 state meetings and
Annual Meeting. Networking is so very important.
