President's Message

Greetings to all members of the Virginia State Society of AMT. Happy New Year!

Let me introduce myself to you. My name is Lori Bedford. I will be serving as the new President of VASSAMT. I am a retired US Navy veteran of the Gulf War, serving in the Surface Force Independent Duty Corps. In my second career, I ran a medical assistant program for 12 years, became the Dean of Education of that school, and helped the school receive a high award from the ACCSC school accreditation. I love teamwork and hard work. It is my pleasure to serve in this capacity and to assist you in any way possible. Our goal this year is GROWTH! Let us work together to grow VASSAMT and continue to do great things this year.

I want to recognize Ms. Linda Sotak and all the hard work she has done for us as VASSAMT President. Ms. Sotak has over 50 years of dedication and commitment to AMT, and I sincerely thank her for all the work she has done.

As we look ahead to 2026, our focus shifts to the objectives established for this year. The next virtual board meeting is scheduled for April 9th at 7:00 p.m. The minutes from the prior meeting, along with the agenda, connection link, and call-in number, will be distributed soon. Additionally, I will host a virtual meet and greet for individuals not yet active with VASSAMT, providing an opportunity to learn more about our organization and engage in its activities.

Our annual meeting will be in Columbus, Ohio, from July 21st to the 24th.

Let us also look ahead to our Magnolia Education Treasures in Mobile, Alabama, on September 25th and 26th.

I look forward to collaborating with you to move VASSAMT forward in 2026!

Best Regards,
Lori Bedford BS, AHI, RMA (AMT)
President of VASSAMT
