What Qualifies for CCP?

To determine if an activity qualifies for CCP, refer to the dropdown menu below for categories and examples. As a general rule, any activity related to a specific item on the exam content outline of your AMT certification will qualify. You can view your specific exam content outline for further details.

Activities:

  • Professional training completed through your employer, certifying organization, or online provider.

Examples:

  • AMT Online CE Courses
  • Employer-required training (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA, safety courses).
  • CPR Training (theoretical + hands-on demonstration).
  • Healthcare-related seminars and conferences.
  • Volunteer work (e.g., health fairs).
  • EPIC Courses.

Points Conversion:

(No maximum points per 3 year CCP cycle)

Credit Types:

  • 1 CEU, CME, PACE = 1 point
  • 1 Contact Hour = 1 point
  • 1 volunteer event = 0.50 point

Training Measured by Time:

(Must accumulate in 15-minute increments)
  • 1 hour = 1 point
  • 45 minutes = 0.75 point
  • 30 minutes = 0.50 point
  • 15 minutes = 0.25 point

Supporting Documents:

Proof of attendance (e.g., certificate of attendance or training transcript) showing:

  • Name of the training provider issuing credit.
  • Title and description of the course.
  • Participant's name.
  • Date of the program.
  • Length of the program (contact hours or CEUs awarded).
  • Validation or sign-off by the official presenting the program.

Breakdown of Common Professional Education Activities:

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

May claim ONE every 2 years

  • First Aid = 2 points OR
  • BLS = 4 points OR
  • CPR = 3 points OR
  • CPR/AED = 4 points OR
  • CPR/AED & First Aid = 6 points

Certification

May claim ONCE per 3-year CCP Cycle

  • TST Certification Card = 4 points (4-hour training course)

Activities:

  • College-level courses pertaining to your certification or other healthcare-related field.

Examples:

  • University or college courses (credit or non-credit) relevant to healthcare.
  • Courses required for healthcare-related programs (e.g., MBA, Phlebotomy).

Points Conversion:

Maximum of 45 points per 3 Year CCP cycle

Credit Hour Courses:

  • 1 Hour (course less than 9 weeks) = 1 point
  • 1 Quarter Hour (course 9 -12 weeks)= 3 points
  • 1 Semester Hour (course 15-17 weeks)= 5 points

Continuing Education/Non-Credit Courses:

  • 10 hours = 1 point

Supporting Documents:

  • Transcript indicating completion of the healthcare-related course.

  • 1 written work = 10 points.

Supporting Documents:

  • Copy of published work.

Activities:

  • Preparing and delivering a presentation related to your certification or other healthcare field.

Examples:

  • Prepare and present an instructional presentation or workshop related to your certification or other healthcare field. To be eligible for earning points, presentations or workshops must be beyond the scope of your job.

Points Conversion:

(No maximum points per 3 Year CCP cycle)

  • 1 unique presentation = 7 points.

Supporting Documents:

  • A program listing your presentation or a copy of the presentation. The document must include the presenter's name and the presentation date.

Activities:

  • Active and formal participation on a committee related to your certification or healthcare field.

Examples:

  • Serving on a committee through a professional organization or at your place of employment for Standards or Safety, Quality Improvement, Patient Advocacy, Process Improvement, Policy Review, etc.

Points Conversion:

(Maximum of 9 points per 3 Year CCP cycle)

  • 3 points per year of participation.

Supporting Documents:

  • Acknowledgment from the organization (e.g., meeting minutes).

Tracking CCP Points

CCP points must be completed every three years by the end of your certification cycle. Here's how to stay organized:

AMT does not review or accept documents unless you are selected for the Annual CCP Audit or Reactivation purposes.

Be Prepared for a Compliance Audit

AMT conducts annual audits to ensure compliance with CCP requirements. If you are randomly selected for an audit, you must provide supporting documentation for your reported CCP activities.

Has Your Certification Lapsed?

When applying for reactivation through CCP compliance, you must:

  • Submit supporting documentation verifying participation in all stated activities, ensuring they total the required number of points.
  • Ensure all activities were completed within the past three years.
