Request to CT Governor Authorizing Credentialed Medical Assistants to Administer Vaccines During COVID-19 Public Health Emergency

December 16, 2020 – AMT requests executive order from Connecticut governor in order to meet demand for vaccinations.

With Covid-19 vaccines being distributed nationwide and millions of Americans waiting for their turn, the need for qualified health care professionals to administer those vaccinations has never been more critical. To help meet the demand in every state, American Medical Technologists (AMT) sent a request to the governor of Connecticut for an executive order authorizing credentialed medical assistants to administer vaccines during the COVID-19 public health emergency. Connecticut is one of only two states that does not allow medical assistants to administer immunizations.
