Russell “Rusty” Cooper is an AMT member and Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) at Fresenius Kidney Care in Bowling Green, Kentucky. His passion for helping others and devotion to the medical field is reflected in the number of patients who ask for him on return visits.
Rusty always knew he wanted to devote his time to the medical field and to be in an environment where he could help people feel better. Rusty's prior work at The Center for Pain Management gave him hands-on competence and experience adjusting to the needs of patients in intense, physically and emotionally challenging situations. Rusty recalls one patient who had breast cancer and was not responding well to radiation. Rusty spent his own time looking for alternatives and eventually recommended options for the physicians to consider.
Rusty’s AMT certification helps assure patients he is highly qualified.
“It is so rewarding when someone comes in a month later and remembers your name,” said Rusty. “Seeing people get better and hearing stories of their improvement makes me grateful to be in this field.”
Demonstrating his caring approach, Rusty reminds patients he is only a phone call away. No matter how long it takes, Rusty explains medical outcomes to his patients in detail until they fully understand. He is always looking for new ways to help.
When Rusty isn’t working, he is cheering on Louisville and playing with his four dogs.
