President's Message

As we welcome 2026, I am honored to step into the role of your new State President. Whether you are new to the profession or a seasoned member who has supported this organization for years, I look forward to working alongside each of you.
My journey with AMT began in 2008 when I needed certification to teach in a medical assistant program. After earning my credentials in 2009, my initial focus was simply maintaining continuing education credits as a requirement for my job. What I never imagined was that nearly 17 years later, I would have the privilege of serving as your President.
Along the way, I’ve learned more than I can share, but two key takeaways stand out:
- Never hesitate to volunteer because you never know what opportunities it may lead to.
- I appreciate those doing the work behind the scenes. For years, I took for granted the dedication of all our state officers who keep our society thriving.
I still remember attending my first state meeting and seeing Tera Benefiel leading as our Society President, ensuring everything ran smoothly then, and every year thereafter. Today, while Tera has passed the torch, we are thrilled to see her step into the role of Central District Councillor. Congratulations, Tera!
As we are getting things planned for the new year, keep an eye on the AMT Communities "Central Plains State Society" page and the "Central Plains Society of American Medical Technologists” Facebook page for updates. Wishing everyone health, growth, and continued excellence in 2026. Here’s a successful year ahead, and we hope to see you soon!
Sincerely,
Jlynn Brown, AHI(AMT) RMA(AMT)
