President's Message

With the fall semester underway around my neck of the woods, it feels like the year is moving at lightning speed! This summer I had the honor of serving as a delegate representing our incredible Central Plains Society at the AMT National Meeting in Columbus, Ohio. The beautiful 60-degree July weather was a welcome treat. The meeting was filled with exciting announcements and celebrations for our CPSAMT leaders. Please join me in congratulating Tera Benefiel, who will assume the role of Central District Councillor in January, Annette Cook, who was appointed AMT National Secretary, and Fran Oran, who was appointed Vice President. These outstanding members of the CPSAMT Board continue to make a tremendous impact at the national level, and we could not be prouder of their leadership and dedication to our profession.

While summer temperatures are still hanging on, Fall will be here before we know it, and so will our 2026 CPSAMT Fall Scientific and Business Meeting! You're invited to join us on October 3, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., in the Endowment Room at Garden City Community College, 801 Campus Drive, Garden City, KS 67846, for a day packed with professional development, networking, and continuing education opportunities.

Don't forget to kick off the weekend with us as the fun starts the Friday evening before! We are excited to host a Welcome Social with a taco bar on October 2, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Main Street Brew in Garden City. 

Mark your calendars and get ready for a time of learning, networking, and celebrating our professions in Garden City - the home of the largest zoo in western Kansas. We look forward to seeing you there!
