Welcome to the New Mexico State Society website. It has been a rough year for most of us with a lot of uncertainty in the world now. I would like a extend a hearty THANKS to all the essential workers who have placed their life on hold to make sure the rest of us stay healthy. Remember, the best prevention against COVID-19 is to stay home, limit your movement and hand hygiene. Hope you are staying healthy and following recommended guidelines thus making our essential workers jobs less stressful. We try to keep this site up to date with information about the state society.
I hope everyone had an opportunity to congratulate our phlebotomists as we celebrated their recognition week on February 17 - 21, 2020, “Drawn to Help Others”. They have a profession that is truly an art form. Also, I hope everyone had an opportunity to congratulate our dental assistants as we celebrated their recognition week March 1 – 7, 2020. Better hygiene leads to better health, which we are all thankful for. Coming up in April 19 - 25, 2020 is Medical Laboratory Professional Week. Join us in celebrating their recognition week. This time of the virus has truly tested their skills. A job well done to all of you.
In case you have not heard, our spring meeting, the Western District Meeting in March and the 2020 AMT Annual Meeting in Albuquerque were all cancelled due to COVID. Please visit the AMT website for courses you can take to get your credit hours in for the year.
Please mark your calendars for this year’s state society fall meeting October 17, 2020 tentatively scheduled at Pima Medical Institute-West. We plan on having continuing education sessions for credit. During our lunch period, lunch provided, we will discuss the business of our state society. As a member of our state society you have an equal voice in the running of our state. Please plan on attending and adding your voice during our meeting. Please make plans on attending and learning your voice during the meeting.
I would like to thank Pima Medical Institute and their instructors Lisa Gabaldon and Florentino Castillo for assisting in putting our meetings together. It is with her help that we obtain a location for us to hold our meetings. Thanks much.
I look forward to hearing from our members and if you have any suggestions on improving our web site, please let me know. Hope to see you at our meetings.
