AMT Elects 2025-2026 Board of Directors

We are thrilled to introduce the 2025-2026 Board of Directors officers who were appointed during the Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA this past July.

2025-2026 President of AMT

Harry Narine, MLS (AMT), RPT (AMT), of Sangre Grande, Trinidad & Tobago – President

Harry served most recently as the AMT 2024-2025 President and was reappointed as President during the 2025 Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA. Prior to that, Harry served as a Member-at-Large, Treasurer, and Vice President of the AMT Board of Directors. Harry has extensive experience overseeing roles within the Caribbean Society of AMT. Positions include Council Member (1999-2003), Treasurer (2003-2009), Assistant Treasurer (2009-2011), Vice President (2011-2013), President Elect (2013-2015), and President (2015-2017).

Harry’s awards from CASMET include: Medical Laboratory Technician of the Region (1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005), Medical Technologist of the Region (2009), Continuing Education (2005, 2007, 2015, 2017 and 2019).

His national honors include the Silver Service Award (2022), Pillar Award (2017), Exceptional Merit Award (2011), Phlebotomy Technician of the Year (2007) and Distinguished Award (2006).

2025-2026 Vice President of AMT

Michael Waide, EdD, MLS (AMT) , CMLA (AMT), AHI (AMT) of Fairmont, WV – Incumbent Vice President

Michael served most recently as the 2024-2025 AMT Vice President and was re-elected in July 2025 and was reappointed as Vice President during the 2025 Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA. Michael was certified by AMT in 2015 and previously served as a Board Member. Michael has served on numerous committees at the national level, including Audit and Budget (2021), Legislative Advocacy (2018), CMLA EQS (2018-present), CMLA SME (2018-present), Scientific Speakers (2017-2018), Under-40 Observer to the Board of Directors (2017-2018), and the Board of Directors ad hoc Task Force on Finances (2020).

Michael has an extensive academic background and serves as the Interim President of Pierpoint Community & Technical College in Fairmont, WV. Michael is also the Provost and Vice President of Academics, holding a tenured professorship in Medical Laboratory Technology.

He has obtained a Masters of Divinity/Theology from Emory University (2003), a Master of Philosophy in Human Development from Syracuse University (2017), and a Doctorate in Education from the American College of Education (2021).

2025-2026 Secretary of AMT

Cherry-Ann Da Costa-Carter, MLS (AMT), RPT (AMT), of Brooklyn, NY – Secretary

Cherry-Ann has served on the AMT Board of Directors since 2017 and will reprise her role as Secretary. She brings with her extensive experience serving as the Secretary, President, and Editor & Legislative Chair for New York State Society of AMT (NYSSAMT).

Her educational background includes a Master of Public Health from Walden University, a Master of Science, Infectious Diseases from the University of London, a Bachelor of Natural Sciences from the University of the West Indies, and business management and administration experience from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Cherry-Ann currently serves as a City Research Scientist IVB for the New York City Public Health Laboratory, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. She has also been recognized with various awards: Meritorious Service (2012), Leadership (2014), Presidents’ Award, Distinguished Achievement Award, Merit Award and the Cuviello Award (2019).

2025-2026 Treasurer of AMT

Sanda Jones, MLS (AMT) - Treasurer

Sanda has been an active member of AMT since 2002. She has served as chair or co-chair of the AMT National Online Communications,. Publications and Electronic Media committees and as Kentucky State Society pPresident since 2019. She also served as Kentucky Vice President and State Society Editor.

Sanda received the Exceptional Merit Award in 2019 and the Distinguished Achievement Award in 2015. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from Kentucky State University and an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from Louisville College Medical and Dental Careers. She recently worked as the Support Systems Coordinator of Point of Care Testing for the University of Louisville Healthcare.

In her community, Sanda is a Shelby Life magazine contributing writer, Shelby County Leadership Graduate and has served as the Shelby County Historical Society Past President. She is the recipient of the Martin Luther King Community Award.
