Happy spring! Mother Nature has been temperamental this year – lots of rain, and even some snow in May! And with the COVID-19 pandemic hovering over us, we need that fresh air and communing with nature more than ever. As healthcare workers we must be sure to take time for ourselves while taking care of our patients and our families.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will not be a spring issue of the Mountaineer Med Line. Some important updates that members need to know are:

The Spring Educational and Business meeting of the WVSSAMT has been cancelled due to the pandemic. Your WV officers and Board of Directors were saddened to have to cancel, but felt it was the best for the health and safety of our members and speakers. Our next meeting will be held in the spring of 2021 in Fairmont –watch for the e-blast update with all the details.

Also canceled due to the pandemic was the 2020 AMT Annual Meeting to be held in Albuquerque, NM in July. WV had two national award winners – Kitty Carr, MT, won the Silver Service Award and yours truly won the Technologist of the Year award. There will be a virtual business meeting instead to conduct the annual business and elect board members. West Virginia will have three delegates to the virtual meeting – Michael Waide, MT, Melissa White, MT, and Janet Crigler, MT. Kimberly Cheuvront, MT, will serve as a Delegate at Large as the AMT National Judiciary Councillor. The 2021 AMT National Meeting will be held in Norfolk, VA, and we will celebrate Kitty and Janet’s award at that time.

Congratulations to our first WVSSAMT student scholarship winner, Edith Salanatin! We hope that she will attend our spring 2021 meeting and become an active member. Watch for information this fall on how to apply for the2020 scholarship.

Don’t forget to record your CEs in AMTrax. This is important to keep your membership active and show your employer your dedication to the profession.

In closing, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve as your president.

Sincerely,
Janet Crigler, MT(AMT)
WVSSAMT President
