President's Message
Happy Holidays!
As we head into a busy holiday season, I want to take a moment to reflect on a successful and productive year for the West Virginia State Society of AMT.
In March, WVSSAMT hosted a scientific meeting that offered two continuing education units (CEUs) focused on hemostasis and laboratory-based decision-making by perfusionists during critical surgeries.
We had four delegates represent the state at the AMT Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA, from July 21-24. Michael Waide was reelected to the National AMT Board and will again serve as the Vice President for 2025-2026.
Special congratulations to our recent award recipients!
- Kimberly Cheuvront received the Dusty Rhodes Life Award at last year’s annual meeting and was also recognized for her dedicated service as the AMT Judiciary Officer.
- Melissa White was honored with the 2024 President’s Award.
- Sherri Craddock received the 2024 State Mountaineer Award.
- Rosette Richardson received the 2025 State Mountaineer
- Award Audrey Vanscoy, an MLT student at Pierpont Community College, was the recipient of an AMT national scholarship.
- Gabriela Rodriguez, an MLS student at West Virginia University, was the winner of the 2025 WVSSAMT student award.
AMT offers several opportunities for students to participate in scientific meetings, technical writing competitions, and scholarship awards.
As you can see, it has been a fantastic year for WVSSAMT. We warmly invite all AMT members in the West Virginia area to join us at upcoming events. Stay tuned for details about our spring scientific meeting, planned for mid-March 2026. Details will be announced in January.
Enjoy your holidays and thank you for being a part of a successful year!
Warm regards,
Melissa White, MLS, AHI
