President's Message

Hello NCSSAMT Members,

This year certainly raced by! We have held our Spring Seminar in Charlotte, attended the National Meeting in St. Louis, now looking forward to attend the Magnolia Educational Treasures (MET) in Maitland, Florida.

The Spring Meeting was well attended, and we also had many students. We had 2 first-time attendees who we were excited to see. The meeting was held at Central Piedmont Community College, which was a very nice facility and very accommodating. There were three presentations, Health Disparities Among Races, Alzheimer’s Disease 101 and Jeopardy for Laboratory Professionals. During the Business Meeting 12 delegates were elected to attend the Annual Meeting.

The Annual Meeting was a full week of seminars, business agendas, social events, friends sharing time together and making new friends. NCSSAMT had 3 National award recipients, Latifah Hofman, ECPI University, Raleigh, NC was named Medical Assistant Student of the Year. Carol Shelton, RMA, Brown Summit, NC received the Distinguished Achievement, and Georgia McCauley, PhD, MLS, Winston Salem, NC received the Pillar Award. Congratulations to each of them.

The MET is coming up in September. Lots of work has been put into this and I have been receiving lots of positive comments. There are 21 educational sessions along with state business and board meetings and social events to be held.

I hope that each member of our State Society will take the opportunity to become involved. 2025 is already in the planning stage. There will be a joint NC/VA meeting March 28-29 to be held at Winston Salem State University.

Please monitor your emails to stay abreast of pertinent news and upcoming events.

Warm Regards,
Judy Smith, MLS (AMT) HEW
NCSSAMT President
